Vadim Guttsayt is a Ukrainian fencer and Olympic champion.

Biography of Vadim Guttsayt

Vadim Guttsayt was born on October 6, 1971 in Kiev.

He started fencing in 1980, playing for the Kiev sports society "Dynamo".

Vadim Guttsait received higher education at the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine, from which he graduated in 1993.

Three times he participated in the Olympic Games - in 1992, 1996 and 2000. He won twice at the Maccabiades, taking the silver medal in 2001 and the gold in 2005 (team and individual events).

He coached the Ukrainian women's saber team, which successfully performed at the Beijing Olympics. He was a member of the executive committee of the Ukrainian Olympic Committee and vice-president of the Ukrainian Academy of Sports.

In 2018, Vadim Gutzeit headed the Department of Youth and Sports in the Kyiv City State Administration.

In 2019 the name of Vadim Gutzeit was 81st in the list of candidates for deputies of Ukraine from the party "Servant of People", but Gutzeit refused to go to parliament.

In 2020 it was reported that Vadim Guttsait may head the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. And on March 4, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada voted for Vadim Guttsayt to be the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

The athlete is married. Wife Vadim Guttsait - Oksana, a famous Ukrainian TV presenter. The married couple brings up two children.
