Short biography

Russian journalist, TV host and television producer.

She was born on November 10, 1975, in Tbilisi. Tina's father - Givi Shalvich Kandelaki - an economist, of the family Kandelaki - a Georgian noble family of Greek origin, his mother Elvira Georgievna Alakhverdova - a doctor, an Armenian, or half-Armenian, half-Turkish. Tina graduated from a school for military children in the center of Tbilisi. In 1993 she got accepted to the medical faculty of Tbilisi State University, but soon after leaving medicine she got accepted to the faculty of journalism.

Worked at radio station "Radio 105" and Georgian Television until she left for Moscow in 1995, where she began working with Stanislav Sadalsky at various radio stations and television channels: "M-radio", "RDV", "Silver Rain", "2×2", "Biz-TV", "Muz-TV", "Vremechko" on TVC, "TV-6" It was Sadalsky who helped her become famous.

Since September 2002, she has presented the programme Details on the STS television channel, where she interviewed prominent people in Russian show-business.

Since February 2003, she has been the host of the TV game "The Smartest".

Since 2006 she has been an announcer on Echo Moskvy radio station.

Back in 1997, on one of M-radio's broadcasts, Tina said that she had struggled with her speech deficiencies early in her career. Perhaps it is this exercise that still makes Tina pronounce many sentences extremely fast, which in turn has become the subject of parodies on TV.

At the end of November 2006, she had an accident in Nice: a Ferrari Enzo, driven by the Russian businessman and billionaire Suleiman Kerimov, for an unknown reason drove off the road and crashed into a tree. The businessman was hospitalized in a serious condition. Tina, who tried to conceal her involvement in the incident from the press, was also taken to Moscow with burns.

In November 2007, Kandelaki spoke negatively about the activities of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili: "The man who was seen as the mouthpiece of democracy in Georgia turned out to be a tyrant of the Middle Ages."

In 2008, she graduated from the Russian State Humanitarian University, Faculty of Diplomacy.

Since October 2009, Tina has been a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

In 2011 signed the public appeal against the information undermining trust in the judicial system of the Russian Federation, which condemned the pressure on the judicial system against the background of the second YUKOS executives' case.
