Roman Svitan was born on January 4, 1964 in the city of Makeyevka, Donetsk region.
At one time he was an adviser to the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Serhiy Taruta.
After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, he acts as one of the leading military experts on Ukrainian TV and media.
