Oleg Yurievich Verniaiev is a Ukrainian world champion in gymnastics.
Brief biography
Oleg Verniaiev was born in Donetsk on September 29, 1993.
He made his debut in gymnastics at the European Championships in 2012, where he won the silver medal and second place.
In 2013, at the European Championships, held in Moscow, took third place.
In 2014 he finally won an unqualified victory and took first place in the European Championship.
In 2015 Oleg Verniaiev became the first citizen of Ukraine to win the World Cup in gymnastics.
In April 2015 he received the title of the absolute European Champion.
And already in 2016 Oleg Verniaiev earned for Ukraine a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio, in the category of parallel bars.
In 2017 Oleg Verniaiev earned the title "Best Athlete of the Year" at the annual ceremony "Heroes of the Sports Year".
Then, in 2017, Oleg Verniaev defended his title of European champion in the all-around, and also won the same title in the category of exercises on the uneven bars. On the vault, unfortunately, Verniaev received only a European bronze medal.
He became the best in the all-around at the twenty-ninth World Universiade, held in 2017 in Taipei, Republic of Taiwan. There Oleg Verniaiev also won one silver and one bronze medal in other categories of gymnastics performances.
Oleg Verniaev participated in the 2017 World Championships in Montreal, but in the all-around he only achieved eighth place, and on uneven bars he won a silver medal, losing first place with a difference of only thousandths of a point.
For his athletic achievements Oleg Verniaev was awarded the Order of Danila Galitsky, as well as the Order of Merit of the third degree, which Oleg Verniaev received soon after his confident victory at the Olympic Games, held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
