DenisShmygal is the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Short biography

Denis Shmygal was born on the 15th of October 1975 in Lviv.

He received his higher education in the national university "Lviv Polytechnic", which he successfully graduated in 1997.

After graduation Denis Shmygal worked at different industrial enterprises in Lviv region. Later he headed a number of investment firms.

Denis Shmygal's political career began in 2009. Then he was appointed Head of Department of Economy and Investments of Lviv Regional State Administration. In this position he worked till 2011, then he moved to the department of economic development, trade and industry of Lviv region. In December 2013 Denys Shmygal was dismissed from the regional state administration.

After the Revolution of Dignity Denys Shmygal, having passed an open competition, took the position of deputy head of the State Fiscal Service of Lviv region.

In 2018, Shmygal headed the management of Burshtyn Thermal Power Plant (this thermal power plant belongs to the DTEK holding company of well-known Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov).

In June 2019, Denis Shmygal was announced as one of the candidates for the post of the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

On August 2, 2019, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky officially appointed Denis Shmygal as the new head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration.

On February 4, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to appoint Denis Shmygal as Minister of Development of Communities and Territories.

On March 4, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine successfully voted to appoint Denis Shmygal as Prime Minister of Ukraine.
