AlexeiSergeyevich Makeev is a Ukrainian diplomat. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Germany.
Short biography
Olexiy Makeyev was born on November 25, 1975 in Kyiv.
He received his higher education at the Institute of International Relations of the Kiev National Shevchenko University.
Joined the diplomatic service in 1996. Since then, he worked in Ukrainian diplomatic missions in Switzerland and Germany.
In 2014, he became political director of the Department of Politics and Communications under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
In 2020, he was appointed Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sanctions Policy against Russia.
In September 2022, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Germany by decree of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Makeyev speaks English and German. He also speaks Spanish and French.
Since 2021, he has the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary First Class.
Family
Makeev is married. His wife, Olena Makeyeva, was Ukraine's deputy finance minister in 2015-2016.
The couple has a daughter, Anastasia. As of 2020, the girl lived in Strasbourg, France, where she studied at university.
