Kevin Johnson committed an inappropriate act

Famous American heavyweight Kevin Johnson came to the weigh-in ceremony in Moscow wearing a T-shirt with a portrait of Vladimir Putin. The 43-year-old boxer will fight against local fighter Mark Petrovsky on Friday, 18 August, at the REN TV Fight Club super-series tournament.

On 8 August, it became known that Johnson decided to change his name in honour of Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the boxer, he wanted to compliment the Kremlin leader and asked to be called Kevin Vladimirovich.

 

On 1 April, Johnson, 43, defeated Vyacheslav Datsyk at the REN TV fight club tournament and asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to grant him Russian citizenship.

In December 2009, Johnson fought with the current mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, for the WBC world title, which was held by the Ukrainian. The fight lasted 12 rounds and ended with Vitali's victory on points (120:110, 120:110, 119:111).

In August 2022, Johnson met with another of our super-heavyweights. The unbeaten Ukrainian Ihor Shevadzutskiy (10-0, 8 KOs) defeated Johnson on points at a boxing night in Hamburg.
