UEFA bans Russian symbols
The European Football Union (UEFA) intends to prevent the appearance of Russian flags at the matches of the Ukrainian national team at the 2024 FIFA World Cup in Germany. In particular, security personnel at the stadium in Munich, where the Blue and Yellows will play Romania in the first match of the tournament, have been ordered to take away the symbols of the aggressor country from fans.
This was reported by the Associated Press news agency. UEFA emphasized that even if some of the fans manage to bring a Russian flag into the arena, the stewards will remove them. This is how the organization responded to possible provocations.
Symbols of the Russian terrorist state were spotted at the first match of Euro 2024. At least two flags of the Russian Federation were displayed at the Allianz Arena in Munich during the Germany-Scotland game. They were also carried at the stadium in Gelsenkirchen, where England had beaten Serbia the day before.
Earlier, the organizers of the main fan zone of the championship in Berlin allowed the use of symbols of only the countries participating in Euro 2024.
The first game of the Blue and Yellows at the continental championship will take place on June 17. OBOZ.UA is broadcasting the Ukraine vs Romania match online. The game starts at 16:00 Kyiv time.
