State Duma calls UEFA's new decision on Russia a "despicable step of the West"

The odious Russian State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov has spoken out against the neutral status of Russian athletes. On September 26, the European Football Union decided to return Russian junior teams to international competitions under the auspices of UEFA.
According to Milonov, the only goal pursued by this decision is to instill in young athletes "the feeling that belonging to Russia is something shameful."
"That rejection of the Motherland is the key to the development of their sports career. This is a despicable step. It is aimed at political influence on young Russian athletes. Not only in football, but on the entire younger generation. This is the West's willingness to accept those who have repented of their Russian origin," Milonov said in an interview with local propagandists.
After that, the deputy let loose, talking about the real situation in the country.
"I think we are interested in young Russian athletes honorably defending their homeland and their country, and not just developing freely in a free country without conscience and honor," the parliamentarian said.
Russian fans could not ignore such statements by their official.
"Finally, at least they admitted that we live in a non-free country," "Did he really say that? What scoundrels, forcing free development in a free country is a terrible torture," users wrote.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the Swedish Football Association (SvFF) has refused to allow the Russian U-17 women's national team to participate in the European Championships to be held in Sweden in 2024.
Earlier, the Swedish and Danish national teams announced that they would not play the Russians in the qualifiers for the European Youth Championship. The Scandinavians expressed their support for Ukraine, which continues to resist Russian aggression.
Prior to that, the Polish and Latvian national teams refused to take the field against Russian youth teams, supporting the boycott of the English.
