Russian track and field athlete Elena Kulichenko, who moved to the United States and plays for Cyprus, complained about Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh. The high jumper noted that our compatriot unfollowed her on social media after the full-scale invasion of Russia on February 24, 2022.

Kulichenko said this in an interview with Sport24 while commenting on Mahuchikh's words that she was uncomfortable competing in the same sector as the native of Odintsovo near Moscow at the 2023 World Cup. The Russian added that she "did nothing to Yaroslava" and that the Ukrainian was allegedly under pressure.

"I didn't do anything to Yaroslava, we were actually on good terms, but she just unfollowed me on social media at some point. I understand her reasons, I think she is under a lot of pressure, it's still a political moment. Maybe she doesn't think so herself, I don't know, maybe she was told to do so. In general, her hate is unreasonable," Kulichenko said.
