Cyprus joins G7 declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine

The 30th country, Cyprus, has joined the G7 Vilnius Declaration on Security Assurances for Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy  thanked his Cypriot counterpart Nicos Christodoulidis for the decision.

The guarantor announced the accession of the new state to the relevant declaration of the Group of Seven on November 2 on his Twitter page (social network X). He welcomed the republic's decision.

"We will continue to strengthen European security and deepen bilateral cooperation together," the Ukrainian president wrote.

As a reminder, the G7 leaders agreed on a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine on July 12 during the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania. This is a framework document - Kyiv is expected to sign separate security agreements with each of the states.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported:

- According to Reuters, the G7 countries (Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Japan and the United States) may announce a ban on imports of Russian diamonds as part of the 12th package of sanctions against the aggressor country.

- The new package should also include restrictions on the export of welding machines, chemicals and other technologies used for military purposes.
