There was an audience of 3 million: the SBU told how many dozens of bot farms were blocked in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Security Service has blocked dozens of bot farms in Ukraine that spread pro-Russian narratives. Their total audience reached 3 million fake accounts.

The terrorist state of Russia is trying not only to undermine the situation in the information space of Ukraine, but also to attack state resources, critical infrastructure facilities, and telecommunications companies. This was stated by Ilya Vitiuk, Head of the SBU Cyber Security Department (scroll to the bottom of the page to watch the video).

According to him, the Security Service has blocked the activities of 76 bot farms since the beginning of the full-scale war. In addition, in 2023, the SBU neutralized about 4 thousand cyberattacks.

Vitiuk explained that the Russians are trying to undermine the situation in the information space of our country through bot farms that spread pro-Russian narratives on the Internet. However, despite the enemy's efforts, the SBU successfully counteracts the occupiers in cyberspace, regularly repelling massive attacks.

However, Russia, for its part, is trying to intensify cyberattacks. In particular, the invaders are introducing relevant subjects into the educational programs of educational institutions to involve even students in hacking activities.

"It's not just about the intelligence services anymore. We have information that a number of educational institutions are already teaching the subject of 'cyberattacks on civilian infrastructure'. They want to increase the scale of attacks and the number of people who can do it professionally. By the way, they teach how to attack not only Ukrainian systems, but also those of partner countries," said Vitiuk.

The head of the SBU Cyber Security Department emphasized that the main task of the Russians is not to hack for money, but to destroy our state. At the same time, not only Ukraine, but also other countries will suffer seriously from Russian cyber aggression.

For its part, the SBU is comprehensively and effectively countering Russia's influence in cyberspace. Therefore, Ukraine has become a kind of shield against cyberattacks for the entire Western world.

As a reminder, crypto enthusiasts have discovered and identified tens of thousands of cryptocurrency transactions related to the financing of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. The total value of the listed virtual coins exceeded UAH 1.5 billion.
