Maguchikh was named the World Athlete of the Year in non-running disciplines by World Athletics
Famous Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Maguchikh has been named the best athlete in non-running disciplines by World Athletics. This award recognizes her outstanding achievements in 2024.
During the year, the 23-year-old from Dnipro won three important titles: a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games, the European champion, and the winner of the Diamond League. In addition, she set a world record in the high jump, clearing the bar at 2.10 meters, which became a historic event in world athletics.
Maguchikh beat out a strong competitor in the voting, the Olympic heptathlon champion Nafissat Thiam from Belgium. This confirms her undisputed leadership in the high jump and her international recognition.
For Yaroslava, this award has become a new important milestone in her career. She proved once again that Ukrainian athletes can be the best in the world, inspiring thousands of people with their success and perseverance.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Maguchikh won the title of the best Balkan athlete of the year on November 3. Ukraine has been a member of the Balkan Athletics Association since 2016.
