But where can you find such a body of water that is close to the city, has good tourist infrastructure, and is not too expensive? We have selected several such options for you.

Como (Italy)

Como is one of the deepest and largest lakes in Italy and Europe in general. It is located in the north of the country, about 50 km from Milan. The body of water has a remarkable "Y" shape and is surrounded by high mountain peaks of the Alps.

Como is famous for its incredible beauty, as well as for the numerous charming towns located along its shores. The most famous of them bears the same name as the lake itself. Here you will find beautiful architecture, many restaurants and shops. Other popular settlements in the area are Bellagio, Varenna, Tremezzo and Menaggio, each with its own unique attractions and special charm.

The lake is also known for its unique microclimate, thanks to which exotic plants such as palm trees and olive trees grow here. This makes it a popular place for recreation as well as for winemaking. Vines are grown on the mountain slopes, so you can taste excellent Italian wines here.

In addition, Como attracts tourists with various sports, such as sailing and water skiing, as well as lake cruises, during which you can enjoy breathtaking scenery.

All in all, it is a great vacation destination that combines the beauty of nature, cultural attractions and outdoor activities.

La Blanche (France)

La lanche is one of the most picturesque mountain lakes located in the heart of the French Alps. This body of water is considered one of the most famous and beautiful in the entire region.

It is surrounded by high mountain peaks, including Monte Blanc, the highest rock in Western Europe, on all sides. This region attracts tourists, climbers and nature lovers from all over the world.

There are many opportunities for tourists in this region, including hiking and biking trails, camping sites and many different attractions.

Bled (Slovenia)

Bled is one of the most popular and beautiful lakes in Slovenia. It is located just 55 km northwest of the capital Ljubljana. Not surprisingly, it is considered one of the country's symbols and attracts tourists from all over the world.

The lake has a small island in the middle, where the medieval castle of the same name is located. In addition, you can see the St. Mark's Church, known for its white facade and wooden staircase.

It is worth noting that Bled is also surrounded by the Alps, which makes it an ideal place for outdoor activities. In particular, here you can go hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and do water sports.

Don't forget about the local culinary traditions. The region where the lake is located offers tourists a famous dessert, "kremšnita", the taste of which will impress any tourist.

Lucerne (Switzerland)

Lucerne is one of the most famous and beautiful lakes in Switzerland. Like the previous reservoirs, it is located among the mountains, which will add a special entourage to your trip.

Lucerne is famous not only for its charming views but also for the historical and cultural attractions located along its shores. Most of them can be found in the city of the same name. It has it all: ancient architecture, charming narrow streets, and numerous landmarks such as bridges, churches, and temples.

In addition, the lake is a popular destination for various outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, mountain climbing, and water sports. And the rocky landscape around the reservoir fascinates tourists who come here on vacation. By the way, it is also a popular place among mountain climbers.

Plitvice (Croatia)

Plitvice is one of the most fascinating places in Europe, located in one of the seven National Parks of Croatia.

It's worth noting that Plitvice is not a single body of water but rather 16 large lakes connected by more than 90 waterfalls. The water here has wonderful blue and green hues, which gives this place an incredible atmosphere.

The trees and plants around Plitvice further enhance the natural beauty of the region. The national park is also home to a variety of animal species. Here you can meet elk, wild boar, bear, etc. However, they rarely appear on tourist routes, so you shouldn't be afraid.

There are well-equipped trails throughout the park, allowing visitors to enjoy the amazing views without harming nature. This place is open to everyone throughout the year, and each season has its own unique beauty.

Plitvice was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. To this day, it remains one of the most famous and impressive natural attractions in Croatia.
