Your home will shine by New Year's Eve: 5 cleaning methods that will make the place look perfect

Perhaps the worst part of the Christmas holidays is the cleaning that precedes all the festivities. You want to invite your family and friends to a clean house for a festive dinner, but it takes a lot of effort to get it clean.

Fortunately, there are many life hacks to make this task easier. OBOZ.UA tells you about five such tricks that will help you cope with the most difficult tasks.

Olive oil for polishing surfaces

If you want your wooden and metal surfaces to shine like new, use olive oil. Take a clean, soft cloth, apply a little of this vegetable fat to it, and rub it in a circular motion. The product allows you to simultaneously get rid of stains, remove shallow scratches and give surfaces a beautiful shine.

Vodka to remove stains from carpet

Vodka, or rather the alcohol it contains, is an excellent solvent that can cope with many types of dirt. So if you have stains on your carpet, or if they appear during a party, blot them with a paper towel to collect as much of the dirt as possible and then soak them in vodka. You can also use rubbing alcohol if you have it. Allow 15-20 minutes for the product to work, and then use a paper towel to collect it as well.

Baking soda and vinegar to clean the bathtub

You can clean your bathtub so that it becomes snow-white in a matter of minutes even without much effort. To do this, prepare a baking soda paste from 2 parts baking soda and 1 part water. Apply it evenly over the entire surface, and then sprinkle white vinegar generously on top. The two substances will immediately enter into a violent reaction, during which they will destroy all the dirt on the surface of the bathtub. When the baking soda stops foaming, all you have to do is wipe the bathtub with a sponge and rinse off the remaining product with water.

If the bathtub is not too dirty, you can do it even easier. Mix one cup of vinegar and half a cup of baking soda with hot water, pour the mixture into the bathtub, and leave it for 5 minutes. After that, fill the bathtub with hot water about a quarter full and leave it again for 5 minutes. Then drain the solution and wipe the walls.

Lemon essential oil for the microwave oven

You can clean your microwave oven by pouring 15 drops of lemon oil into a bowl filled with water. The cleaner is ready to go. Simply place the bowl in the oven and turn on the appliance for 10 minutes at high power. When the program is finished and the steam and lemon oil have softened all the dirt, all you have to do is wipe the walls of the microwave with a light touch.

Rubber gloves against pet hair

Owners of cats, dogs, and other furry animals know that even the most modern and sophisticated vacuum cleaner will not be able to collect all the hair from, say, a carpet. But simple rubber gloves are quite capable of doing just that. Just put them on and wipe the places where the hair has collected. All of it will settle on the gloves and you can easily remove it from them by simply rinsing them under running water.
