Apricots are one of the best fruit trees you can have on your plot. They grow quickly, are resistant to external conditions, and the first juicy fruits ripen quite early - as early as June.

But the tree has one annoying drawback. It can suddenly stop flowering and not give a harvest after that. OBOZREVATEL found out how to combat this problem and which fertilizer will help to preserve the flowering of apricots and give it a good harvest.

Why can the apricot stop bearing fruit?

When planting young apricots it is important to choose the right place for them. What can prevent them from blooming?

• stagnant water in the ground;
• location in the shade;
• heavy clay soil.

If the conditions for apricots are chosen correctly, but they still do not blossom and do not bear fruit, you should check yourself for mistakes in growing the tree. These include:

• excessive watering;
• untimely pruning;
• Insufficient fertilization.

Excess water can cause the apricot to drop flowers. Also the presence of excessive branches, limiting sun access to the crown, as well as depleted soil. The latter is especially bad for mature trees. If your mature apricot tree has stopped yielding, prepare your own fertilizer that will restore its ability to bear fruit.

How to make apricot fertilizer.

Homemade fertilizer is applied during the flowering of the tree, when it requires more additional nourishment. To make the remedy, you will need:

• urea - 4 tablespoons;
• potassium sulfate - 4 tablespoons;
• water - 20 liters.

Urea and potassium sulfate should be properly diluted in 20 liters of water. This solution is used to water the soil around the apricot tree. The amount of fertilizer is calculated for one mature apricot tree. The effect of such fertilization should appear in a few days - the tree should give more abundant color.

Feeding the plant should be done in three stages and by watering. The first - as soon as the apricot begins to bloom. The second time fertilizer is introduced two weeks after the first treatment. And the third watering with fertilizer is planned in about a month, when the tree appears and begins to ripen ovary.

How to take care of apricots for a better harvest

In addition to mineral fertilizers, it is good to feed the tree with organics. Muck, manure or compost will do a good job. And young seedlings it will also make them more resistant to the vagaries of the weather.

It is also good to control the root system of the tree. Once a year you can use an axe to remove some of the roots. But you can do it only from one side, so as not to harm the apricot.

When you harvest all the apricots, feed the tree with phosphorus-potassium fertilizer. Organics will not work at this stage.
