What cannot be stored on the windowsill: things will quickly deteriorate
Sometimes, in a hurry, we place the items we're holding on the first surface we come across and often forget them there. Often, this surface is a windowsill because it is the easiest to access. But the conditions for storing things in this place are very unsuitable, and some items will fare the worst there.

Food
Firstly, food should be kept in the shade and usually in a cool environment, which means that these are, by default, unsuitable conditions for them. In addition, under the influence of heat and light, bacteria begin to develop in them, causing the food to spoil immediately. Even sugar and salt should not be stored on the windowsill.
Fragile items
Even if you're sure you won't knock anything over yourself and you don't have cats that like to walk on windowsills, the wind from the window or a draft can knock over something fragile.
Detergents and cosmetics
The chemicals in detergents and cosmetics can change their properties under improper storage conditions. Sunlight and heat are precisely the wrong conditions. Therefore, at best, the product will lose its properties. At worst, it can catch fire.
Mirrors or objects with mirror surfaces
Mirrors themselves will not suffer from such storage, but they can work like a lens and reflect direct sunlight, concentrating it in one point. And this is a fire hazard.
Candles
It's simple - candles melt in direct sunlight. So, in the evening, a candlelight decoration on the windowsill is quite appropriate, but after you extinguish them, immediately hide them somewhere far away.
Electronics
Gadget batteries quickly fail under the influence of heat and light. In addition, on a rainy day, devices can be flooded with water. That's why you shouldn't keep phones, tablets, laptops, and even remote controls on the windowsill.
General clutter
Any items laid out chaotically on the windowsill look untidy and make it difficult for light to enter the room. So, ideally, only indoor plants belong on the windowsill.
