If you notice that your electric kettle has started to work worse and it takes a long time to heat water, do not rush to take it for repair and even throw it away. Try looking into its tank.
Most likely, its lower part and the heating element will be covered with a fairly thick layer of scale. It forms during the boiling of water when salt crystals settle on the surface of the kettle. And the harder the water in your region, the faster this happens. Fortunately, you can get rid of scale. OBOZ.UA tells you about a life hack that requires only one natural ingredient.
This ingredient is citric acid. It destroys limescale and makes it easy to clean. At the same time, the substance does not harm the parts of the appliance.
It is very easy to use the power of the substance as there is no need to rub or scrub the kettle. Simply pour 2-3 tablespoons of citric acid powder into the reservoir, fill it with water to the level of the scale layer, and turn on the kettle. When it boils, drain the acidified water and rinse the kettle from the inside with a soft sponge. Part of the scale should dissolve, and the rest can be easily wiped off. If there is still something left, you will need to repeat the procedure.
To clean the spout of the kettle as well, plug it with a piece of paper towel dipped in citric acid solution. Let it stay there while the appliance is in use. After boiling, wipe the spout as well.
