The Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Oleh Nemchinov, said that our athletes would only participate in those qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Games in Paris where there are no Russians. According to a member of the NOC of Ukraine's executive committee, if Ukrainian federations violate this decision, they will be stripped of their national status.

"At the government meeting, a protocol decision was made on the proposal of my colleague Gutzeit that we participate in the qualifying competitions [for the 2024 Olympics] only where there are no Russians," Nemchinov said on the air of the telethon.

He also reminded athletes that they should think more about their lives than their careers.

"Yesterday I attended another funeral of a good friend of mine, who had devoted many years to athletics and died in the Kharkiv direction. And who is survived by three children. He voluntarily went to war, and he didn't serve in the kitchen, so to speak, he was in combat units, so I want to say to our fellow athletes who are worried that their careers will be ruined or something else because of the IOC's decision... But your life and the lives of your children will remain," Nemchinov concluded.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, on Tuesday, the IOC restored the possibility for Russians and Belarusians to compete in individual sports under a neutral flag, provided they do not actively support the war in Ukraine and are not associated with the army and military clubs. The decision on their participation in the 2024 Games will be made later.
