The best way to clean the entire oven: a collection of life hacks

How to clean the entire oven

Ovens should be cleaned regularly; otherwise, burnt grease, dirt, and food residue will dry out under the influence of high temperatures and become difficult to clean. Aggressive chemicals can damage the surface, and conventional detergent gels don't always cope with tough dirt.

Ian Palmer-Smith, an appliance expert at Domestic and General, shared what he considers the best way to clean an oven. The details were reported by the Express.

Cleaning the oven is a very laborious task. The expert suggests four simple steps that will not only make the surfaces shiny and clean but also help avoid the need for appliance repair.

Step 1

Remove the oven racks. Jan recommends soaking them in dishwashing liquid overnight and removing any grease with a cloth in the morning.

You can also try a rather interesting method using aluminum foil and dishwasher tablets. Wrap the racks in foil and put this "envelope" in a bathtub or a large container of water with the seam facing up. Next, place a dishwasher tablet at the junction of the edges and pour boiling water over everything. The water should cover the racks. Leave the "envelope" to soak overnight and rinse the racks under running water in the morning.

Step 2

Remove the burnt food. Wipe down all surfaces before actually cleaning. Then apply detergent. A mixture of baking soda and white vinegar in a 1:1 ratio works best.

Top tip: Use a scraper for large pieces of food. Also, make sure that no cleaning agent gets on the heating element of the oven.

Step 3

Clean the inside of the door. When choosing a glass door cleaner, make sure it is not abrasive or too strong. Avoid excessive friction, which can lead to cracks. Spray the inside of the door with the selected cleaner, leave it on for about 20 minutes, and wipe off the residue with a damp cloth.

Alternatively, you can use white and apple cider vinegar. Acids will dissolve mineral deposits, dirt, and grease. In addition, vinegar is powerful enough to kill some bacteria.

Step 4

Clean the outside of the door. The expert recommends using a glass cleaner. Wipe the surface with a damp cloth in a circular motion until all the dirt is removed, and then polish the glass with a clean, dry cloth to remove streaks.
