Regular cleaning allows us not only to keep our homes clean, it also ensures the hygiene of our homes. But only a pleasant scent can provide a truly cozy atmosphere and a feeling of freshness after cleaning.
However, not everyone wants to use strong-smelling fresheners or detergents for this purpose. Therefore, home care enthusiasts come up with various life hacks using natural ingredients. OBOZ.UA tells you about three such tips. These methods will primarily help to eliminate unpleasant odors, and at the same time fill the room with light pleasant aromas.
Trash container freshener
The bucket or other container in which we collect garbage, especially organic waste, is the main source of stench in the home. Therefore, it needs to be washed regularly. But the odor can also appear between emptying the bin. To avoid this, put a few cotton pads soaked in essential oil under the bag. A couple of drops will be enough to fix the problem.
Baking soda and lemon for the kitchen
Foreign odors can also appear in other places in the kitchen. In particular, on surfaces and appliances that come into contact with food. A solution made from baking soda and lemon juice will help remove them. Cut a fresh lemon into halves and sprinkle baking soda on the slice. Then rub the fruit on the sink, stove, countertop, or refrigerator door. The combination of baking soda and citric acid from the juice will mechanically remove dirt, limescale, and freshen up the odor. All that's left is to rinse off the baking soda residue.
Flavored water for washing walls
Unpleasant odors can also emanate from walls and baseboards if organic stains accumulate on them, such as food traces, grease, pet markings, etc. Washing with scented water will help neutralize the problem. To prepare it, take a liter of warm, clean water, add a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent and a few drops of essential oil to your taste. The soap in the water will dissolve and remove dirt, and the essential oil will leave a light, pleasant scent. The main thing is to stir the liquid thoroughly so that the fragrance dissolves well in the water. Wash the walls with this water with a slightly dampened cloth or mop. This will help avoid damaging the decorative coating - paint or wallpaper.
However, there is a caveat to this life hack. If you have pets, make sure that the oil you choose is not toxic to your cat or dog. For example, peppermint can be harmful to furry friends. If you don't want to take any risks at all, you can leave the oil out of the washing water.
