Only film needed: how to quickly unblock a clogged toilet

Film works on the same principle as a plunger

Cleaning a clogged toilet is a rather unpleasant task, but there are life hacks to make it easier and avoid getting your hands dirty. One of the most effective methods doesn't require any additional tools—just one item that is in almost every kitchen.

This is exactly what user Jeanie Thurman shared on her TikTok account. According to her, you can unclog a toilet with cling film alone. (To watch the video, scroll down to the end of the news story.)

To use this method, you need to wrap the toilet bowl tightly with cling film from the seat side. Next, press the flush button and tap the middle of the film several times to ensure it does not break. In a couple of seconds, water should start to flow easily into the pipe.

This life hack works on the same principle as a plunger. The film blocks the air from entering the toilet bowl, and a few taps on its surface create air bubbles that generate additional pressure in the pipe. It is this pressure that pushes the blockage inside, allowing the water to pass easily into the drain.

You won't have to get your hands dirty or use aggressive chemicals to clean the pipes. However, experienced plumbers note that this method may not always work, especially for serious blockages. It also won't be effective if the air supply to the bowl is not fully restricted.
