Mushroom picker's calendar for 2023: favorable days in October and November

Autumn is the best time for mushroom picking, and these can be used to prepare a variety of delicious and nutritious dishes. High humidity and cool air temperatures are the most favorable conditions for a successful mushroom season.

OBOZ.UA has released a mushroom picker's calendar for October and November 2023. Select favorable days for a productive harvest.

October

According to the lunar calendar, the following are considered good days: 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27.

During these days, you can come across various types of mushrooms, such as porcini, boletus, boletus edulis, shiitake, champignons, morels, honey agarics, and true milk caps.

November

Favorable days in November include: 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26.

In this month, the weather will be cooler, and temperatures will drop, which may lead to fewer mushrooms. Nevertheless, you can still find mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and truffles.

OBOZ.UA has also provided tips on cleaning mushrooms:

Avoid soaking mushrooms for an extended period. The porous structure of mushrooms absorbs excess water quickly, making them lose their flavor.

Trim the stem tips. If you plan to store the mushrooms in the refrigerator, the longer they remain, the more you may need to remove the stems.

Don't worry about the gills. The belief that you need to remove it is nothing more than a myth.

Clean the larger caps by removing the film. Gently lift the edge and remove it toward the center, leaving the brown underside intact.
