In addition to popular home solutions, which usually contain abrasive soda particles, vinegar, or citric acid, you can try a rather non-trivial way of cleaning. Sarah Dempsey, a cleaning expert, suggests using an unexpected tool.

"One of my favorite ways to clean is to use cola to clean the toilet," she said.

It may sound unusual, but cola actually has many very effective cleaning properties.

Step 1. Buy a bottle of cola and pour the drink around the edges of the toilet.

Step 2. The product needs time to work. Leave the cola to drain and do its job for at least an hour.

Step 3. Scrub the walls of the toilet bowl using a stiff brush or scouring pad. This will effectively remove stubborn stains from the toilet bowl and leave it fresh and clean."

The cleaning expert says that it is the carbonic acid in the carbonated drink that helps to clean the stains. Cola will help remove limescale from the bowl, but it is also important to clean the seat.

"Use an all-purpose bathroom cleaner to properly clean all areas of the lid and seat on both sides of the toilet," Sarah suggested.

Don't forget to wipe the toilet flush handle with a disinfectant wipe as you need to do this at least once a day.
