Ukrainian ex-skater gave a fiery interview

The first Olympic champion of independent Ukraine, Oksana Baiul, has responded to the wife of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Tatyana Navka, for a rude attack on her. The 45-year-old ex-figure skater from Dnipro reminded Navka who was really behind her funding.

"Our 'very good friend' Tatyana Navka, who is married to Peskov and who is obviously sponsored by Putin's Russian government, claims that sport should not be tied to war. And then she gives an interview where, commenting on the Ukrainian government's decree banning competition with the Russians, she says that if Ukraine had not been selected for the Olympics, it would have been fine," Baiul said in an interview with TheSkatingLesson YouTube channel.

Baiul believes that she is "poking the bear" with her attacks on her and Ukraine.

"If she continues to do this, I will come out and stand up for the Ukrainians, because when the war started, Putin said he would take over Ukraine in three days. Those were his words. It is unthinkable what is happening now in the world of sports," Baiul said.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Baiul recently replaced the honoured figure skating coach of Russia Alexander Zhulin.

The 59-year-old Zhulin, who was married to Tatyana Navka from 2000 to 2010, humiliated the American 2018 Olympic medallist Adam Rippon in a recent interview.
