How to sharpen scissors: a brilliant life hack

Kitchen foil can restore the sharpness of scissor blades

Dull scissors can be a problem when you need to use this tool quickly and it has been in a drawer for a long time without you keeping an eye on its condition. If you don't have time to take the scissors to the workshop, you can use a life hack to help make them sharp again.

As OBOZREVATEL found out, it won't have a long-lasting effect, but it will help you sharpen the tool at the exact moment you need it. To do this, all you need is food-grade aluminum foil.

Tear off a sheet of foil from the roll and fold it three times - this will be the optimal thickness. Now you need to cut the folded foil with scissors. The thicker the scissor blades, the more movements you will have to make. For example, 10-12 cuts will be enough for small manicure scissors, paper scissors will become sharp enough after 10-15 cuts, but kitchen scissors will need about 30 cuts.

Instead of foil, you can also use metallized food wrappers, such as candy wrappers. An old metal sponge will also work. The main thing is that it should be clean enough.

This life hack will only have a temporary effect. Scissors will quickly become dull again after such sharpening. Therefore, you should take them to a workshop later, where a specialist will not only bring the blades back to sharpness but also tighten the bolts and balance the tool if necessary.
