How to remove grease and grime from the oven after holiday cooking: life hacks

Cooking holiday meals puts a lot of strain on the oven

Preparing holiday meals can be a real challenge for kitchen appliances. The oven, in particular, takes a lot of strain, and cleaning it after the Christmas season can seem like an impossible task. However, it is only for those who do not know proven life hacks using white vinegar.

OBOZ.UA tells you about three ways to restore shine and cleanliness to your oven. In addition to the vinegar, you will also need baking soda, a spray bottle, and heat-resistant dishes.

White vinegar spray

Vinegar can not only dissolve stubborn grease stains but also get rid of odors in the oven. It is most convenient to use it in the form of a spray. Mix the product with water in equal proportions and pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Spray all the surfaces inside the oven with the liquid and leave it on for 5-15 minutes, depending on the degree of contamination, and then rinse it off with a damp cloth or sponge. You can increase the effect of the product and mask the smell of vinegar by adding fresh lemon juice or a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the mixture.

Vinegar and baking soda

Baking soda and acidic vinegar react violently with each other to remove even the most difficult stains. To harness the power of these two products, sprinkle baking soda powder on the stained area and then generously spray the vinegar and water mixture over it. They will immediately begin to form an active foam and break down even burnt-on grease. Allow the reaction to complete and, if there is any baking soda left in the area you want to clean, spray it with vinegar again. Wait another 15-20 minutes, and then rub the treated area and rinse with water.

Treatment with hot vinegar

For this method, preheat the oven to the maximum temperature and place a heat-resistant container with white vinegar in it. Leave the vinegar in the oven for 20-60 minutes, depending on the degree of dirt. During this time, the product will have time to evaporate and work on the walls, ceiling, and all the recesses inside the oven. When it has cooled down a bit, all you have to do is rinse it with clean water.

How not to clean the oven

Experts say that two types of products should never be used to clean the oven. These are abrasive powders and bleach.

Abrasives can damage the surfaces of the appliance, namely scratch the paint, metal, and glass. This will accelerate the destruction of materials and the failure of the oven.

As for bleach (even small amounts), poorly rinsed chlorine can damage the surfaces inside the oven. It can also begin to emit harmful vapors that will poison food.
