How to make your clothes in the wardrobe smell nice: a hotel trick

Clothes in the wardrobe

After being stored in a closet for a long time, things acquire an unpleasant musty odor. It's very difficult to remove it, and sometimes even washing doesn't help.

It is better to prevent the problem than to deal with it later. Read the OBOZREVATEL article on how to make things smell good in your closet.

Soap in the closet

First of all, experts advise using conditioners at the washing stage. A relatively persistent odor will stay on clothes in the closet for 1-2 weeks.

Our grandmothers used to put toilet soap on the shelves. It's better to choose a bar that contains essential oils - they will provide a longer-lasting scent. The easiest way is to put the bar of soap near the clothes, but some experts advise grating it and dividing it into several portions in the corners of the shelves. The soap dries quickly, so you'll need to moisten it with water at least once a week to enhance the scent.

Lavender

Lavender is not only a great flavoring but also an effective moth-repellent. Put a dried bouquet on a shelf, and the insects will not spoil your clothes.

Essential oils

Dab a napkin with essential oil and place it in a corner on a shelf. Please note that essential oils have a very intense, concentrated scent, so a few drops will be enough. Roll up the tissue into a cone shape and place it in a glass or a small vial, with a few drops of essential oil added to the bottom of the glass

Flavoring based on alcohol and essential oils

Pour 20 ml of alcohol into a small bottle and add 10-15 drops of essential oil. It is better to choose citrus or floral scents. You can add a few dried clove blossoms or a cinnamon stick to the solution. Leave the bottle open on the shelf.

Citrus flavoring

Put dried citrus peels - lemons, oranges, grapefruits, or tangerines - in a cheesecloth bag.

Scented sachets

You can buy scented sachets in the household chemicals department - they are inexpensive. You can also make them yourself by filling bags with herbs.

The following plants are suitable:

  • lemon balm;
  • mint;
  • chamomile;
  • lavender;
  • cloves;
  • rosemary;
  • thyme, etc.
