How to improve radiator heating: ways that will make life much easier

This winter, the supply of heat to Ukrainian homes is likely to be somewhat limited as the temperature of the heat carrier may be reduced by several degrees to save money. To be prepared for this, you need to know not only how to keep warm but also how to increase the heat.

Get rid of dust

Even a thin layer of dust on radiators can absorb up to a quarter of the heat they produce. Therefore, the first step is to clean it. You can do this, for example, by using a hair dryer. But don't forget to place a newspaper or towel underneath them to quickly collect the dirt. Be sure to mop the floor after you're done.

Install thermal insulation

Typically, radiators are attached to the wall under the window, which is probably the coldest part of the wall in the room. Accordingly, it takes a considerable amount of energy to heat it. Therefore, to avoid wasting heat, you can install a special heat-reflecting screen in this area. You can buy it at any hardware store and easily install it yourself. The main thing is to cover the entire niche behind the radiator.

Take care of proper heat circulation

Another approach that steals heat is blocking the spread of warm air from the radiators. Therefore, remove any objects that stand in front of the radiator: try not to put chairs there, and, if necessary, even remove the decorative screen.

You can also help the warm air spread around the room. To do this, you need to install a fan near the radiator, direct it deep into the room, and turn it on at a low speed. Even a pocket fan will help to heat the entire area evenly.
