What to use to clean door handles

Door handles can become a real breeding ground for bacteria if you neglect to clean them regularly. There is no need to use harsh or toxic products to get rid of germs.

Simple and affordable ingredients will help. Sante Plus has selected effective life hacks, some of which will surprise you.

Lemon

Cleaning experts advise rubbing a lemon on door handles. Citric acid has disinfectant properties and can deeply clean surfaces of dirt and plaque.

The easiest way is to cut the lemon in half and rub the handle with one half. After that, rinse the cleaned area with a damp sponge and wipe it with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

Lemon and baking soda

If the dirt is old, mix 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a container until a paste is formed. Smear the door handle thickly with the mixture and leave it for a few minutes, then remove the remaining paste with a cloth dampened with water.

Life hack with Coca-Cola

Chrome door handles can be cleaned with Diet Coca-Cola. This carbonated beverage contains citric acid, which dissolves traces of rust and deeply removes stains. Prefer sugar-free cola to make rinsing easier.

A little-known life hack with ketchup:

Ketchup can be used not only as an addition to spaghetti, hamburgers, or French fries. Experts say that due to its acidity and high vinegar content, ketchup can dissolve dirt and grease on door handles. This life hack may seem a bit strange, but experienced housewives say it is really effective. Apply a thin layer of ketchup to the handle and, after waiting 5 minutes, rinse the handle with a damp cloth.

Salt, flour, and vinegar:

Another method of cleaning door handles is to use salt, flour, and vinegar. Salt is known for its disinfectant effect, while flour removes stubborn stains.

The necessary ingredients:

  • Salt: 1 tablespoon
  • Flour: 1 tablespoon
  • White vinegar: 1 tablespoon
  • Hot water

Mix all the ingredients, except water, in equal proportions in a container and rub the door handles with the mixture. After waiting a few minutes, wipe off the mixture with a soft cloth and rinse the door handles with hot water.
