How to clean a carpet in 20 minutes: an effective Turkish method

To clean your carpet, it's not enough to just vacuum up dust and dirt. Over time, even the fluffiest carpets lose their softness and elasticity.

The easiest way is to take the carpet to a dry cleaner. However several effective life hacks will not only help remove dirt but also restore the original softness of the pile. OBOZREVATEL figured out how to wash a carpet in 20 minutes.

This method is very popular in Turkey. Locals are known to adore carpets and lay them everywhere in their homes. Turkish carpets are in demand among tourists from all over the world.

Typically, carpets are cleaned by hand, and a simple and affordable product is used - laundry detergent. For white products, they choose a powder with a bleaching effect; for variegated and monochromatic coatings, they take regular detergent for colored items.

Then add the secret ingredient. Ammonia will enhance the effect of the laundry detergent. Pour 1 liter of warm water into a container, add the powder, and dilute with one tablespoon of ammonia. If you need more water, just follow the 1:1 ratio.

Be sure to wear a mask and gloves before cleaning the carpet. Soak the brush in the foaming solution and wipe the carpet in a circular motion.

When the entire carpet is covered with foam, leave it for 20 minutes to work. Then, dampen a sponge with clean water and remove the remaining foam.

By the way, baking soda will help to renew the old carpet and raise the pile. It is recommended to rub it into the fibers with a stiff brush. Leave the soda on for several hours, preferably overnight. Remove the remaining crystals with a vacuum cleaner and wipe the carpet with warm water and powder.
