Clothes will smell like just-washed: what to put in a closet for a pleasant aroma

If you store things in a closet for a long time, for example, during the off-season, they can develop an unpleasant odor. This is not necessarily due to dampness or fungus. Bacteria can grow in the fibers of fabrics without regular washing and cause this side effect. Fortunately, even the appearance of this problem can be prevented.

OBOZ.UA learned about a life hack that will help keep things fresh. You will need a simple and inexpensive hygiene product that is sold in any supermarket.

We are talking about ordinary cosmetic soap. It's better to choose a product with a pronounced scent. It can work as a kind of freshener in a closet. It will be enough to buy a few bars of solid soap and put it on the shelves. The soap should be completely dry.

You can put the bars in paper or plastic packages. However, will need to be opened so that the scent can spread in the closet. Things should not come into direct contact with the soap. You can put it directly on the shelf if there are no clothes. If you are using a product without packaging, it is better to put it in a saucer or even a small bowl.

An additional effect of such an improvised freshener is to repel insects: moths, flies, and cockroaches. Lavender-scented soap will be especially helpful in this case.

If you want to get a long-lasting effect, it is better to give preference to a non-natural soap. Then it will be able to fulfill its function for up to six months, after which it can be used for its intended purpose. Natural soap with essential oils will last no more than a month, after which it will run out of steam. In rare cases, mold can develop on low-quality natural soap.

And finally, a word of advice: choose a soap with the scent you really like. After all, things easily absorb aromas and can sometimes be saturated with them, like real perfume.
