Here's how to heat coffee properly

Coffee drinkers don't miss an opportunity to drink a cup of their favorite beverage in any environment: at home, on the road, or at work. However, in winter, the drink cools down very quickly, and you don't always have access to a coffee maker or stove, so you have to look for alternatives, such as using a microwave.

However, the question arises: is it safe? Is it possible to heat coffee in the microwave? OBOZ.UA has figured out the nuances.

Rules for heating coffee

In general, the answer is yes - yes, you can heat coffee in the microwave if there are no alternatives. But you need to keep in mind important rules.

Rule 1

Do not use plastic containers, metal cans, or melamine dishes in the microwave. These containers can melt or release hazardous chemicals into the drink.

You can use glass or ceramic cups for heating. So first of all, make sure that your drink is in a microwave-safe container.

Rule 2

Often, when we put a cup in the microwave and turn on the timer, we notice that only the container has heated up, and the drink remains cool.

During the heating process, it is important to take breaks and stir the coffee to ensure even heating and avoid overheating. Overheating can affect the taste and aroma of the coffee, making it unsuitable for consumption.

Rule 3

Do not re-boil coffee. It should be heated to a warm state, not boiling. Boiled coffee tastes bitter.

And remember: the process of reheating itself affects the taste of coffee, so don't be surprised if the taste of the drink after microwaving, even if you follow these rules, may change slightly.

How else to reheat coffee

You can reheat coffee that has cooled down on the stove. Pour the drink into a small saucepan and heat it slowly, stirring constantly. The ideal moment to remove the coffee is when the drink is evaporating but not yet boiling.

If you have a coffee maker, great. Simply pour the drink into a carafe and turn the machine on to the usual hot coffee setting.

If you don't mind drinking coffee that's not too strong, just add hot water to the cup. This is a quick and optimal solution, but make sure that the ratio of coffee to water does not spoil the taste of the drink. It is optimal to take three parts of water for one part of coffee.
