Bringing only problems: what plants should not be planted in the country

Even if your backyard is given over to a vegetable garden, you probably want to plant a couple of ornamental plants to make it pleasing to the eye. But you need to choose them carefully enough, because some require strict control of their growth and without careful care take up all the space, harming others.

OBOZ.UA tells you about such plants. If you do not plan to devote all your free time to them, it is better to refuse to grow them.

English ivy

This spectacular vine grows very quickly, creating beautiful leafy cascades. But at the same time, it kills the trees on which it rests, destroys walls by penetrating their cracks, and suppresses the growth of almost all plants.

Juniper

Of all conifers, juniper is perhaps the most vulnerable to fungal infections. Which it will quickly transmit to neighbors on the site. Therefore, it is better to opt for other species or regularly treat it with fungicides.

Periwinkle

This flower very quickly covers the ground with a dense evergreen carpet, and in spring it blooms with beautiful blue and purple star-shaped flowers. But nothing survives under the periwinkle carpet at all.

Thunberg's barberry

A tough and thorny shrub that is not easy to care for is a favorite hiding place for all kinds of pests. For example, for ticks, both those that affect plants and those that bite people. Mice are also happy to live in it.

Mint

Both peppermint and lemon balm are very invasive species that quickly displace all other plants from the site. And it is extremely difficult to control their growth, because they grow through the root system. If you still want to have a small bed of aromatic herbs, plant them in a container.

Wisteria

During the flowering period, this plant looks fantastic - long tassels of flowers turn your site into a fairy garden. But the root system of wisteria can produce new shoots far from the main trunk and it will quickly take over the entire site. If you are not ready to prune the plant at least twice a year, it is better not to experiment.
