When updating certain items in the bathroom, experts advise choosing reliable alternatives rather than following fashion trends. What things should be changed in the bathroom at the earliest opportunity, Homes and Gardens magazine told.

If you think your bathroom looks a bit outdated or you want to update the space without spending a lot of money, replacing the bathroom mirror is the first place to start, advises Sarah Storms, interior designer and founder of Styled by Storms.

You can choose a large round mirror or a more sophisticated one decorated with moldings or patterns. This simple replacement will instantly update the room and increase the amount of light by adding more reflective surfaces.

Because rugs are usually cleaned much less frequently than necessary, they become a breeding ground for germs. The humidity that is generated in the bathroom while showering creates an ideal environment for the growth of bacteria and mold.

It's always a good idea to update and expand the storage space for cosmetics and other items in the bathroom. This helps not only to organize the bathroom more conveniently for a better morning routine but also to keep the space tidy.
