The most versatile meat dish that can be quickly prepared for lunch is meatballs. They are based on ordinary minced meat. You can cook a large portion at once and then serve it with pasta, potatoes, cereal, and salad.

The idea of making hearty meatballs for lunch was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Oksana Dorosh (oksana_dorosh_rezeptu). The dish is very basic and satisfying.

Ingredients:

  • 300 g of minced meat
  • 1/4 loaf of bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 medium carrot and onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic (2 for minced meat, 2 for sauce)
  • 1.5 tbsp. of tomato paste
  • 1 tsp. of starch
  • 1 liter of water
  • herbs, spices to taste

Method of preparation:

1. Pour water over loaf, chop onion, and grate carrots.

2. Mix minced meat, half of the onion, carrots, eggs, garlic, and loaf (squeeze well from the water). Add salt and oregano and form small meatballs.

3. Fry them in a frying pan in a little oil. A crust should form. Do not cook them until they are done because they will be stewing in the sauce.

4. For the sauce, mix pasta, starch and water.

5. Fry the second part of the chopped onion in vegetable oil.

6. Add garlic and pour the diluted paste.

7. Bring to a boil and add salt, pepper, oregano and paprika.

8. Add meatballs one at a time. Add bay leaf, cover and simmer for 15 minutes until tender.
