Mackerel like red fish: how to marinate it quickly and correctly
Fish is a very tasty and, most importantly, valuable product that everyone should eat at least twice a week. Experts say that herring and mackerel in any form, especially the latter, are the most budget-friendly and healthy. It can be pickled, baked, salted, or boiled.
Food blogger Yulia Mlynarchyk shared a recipe on Instagram for delicious, lightly salted mackerel with spices, which will look very similar to red fish.
Ingredients:
- freshly frozen mackerel - 2 pcs.
- onion - 2 pcs.
- water - 250 ml
- sugar - 0.5 tsp.
- salt - 2 tsp.
- black pepper - 1/2 tsp.
- allspice - 1/3 tsp.
- cloves - 5-6 pcs.
- coriander peas - 1/2 tsp.
- sunflower oil - 2 tbsp.
- apple cider vinegar - 2.5 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Defrost the mackerel, cut into pieces.
2. Boil water, add salt, sugar, cloves, peppercorns, ground pepper, coriander, oil, mix and cook the marinade for about 1 minute.
3. Let the marinade cool and pour in the vinegar.
4. Cut the onion into thin half rings and add the chopped mackerel.
5. Pour over the marinade and refrigerate for a day.
The finished fish will taste as good as red fish.
