One of the most budget-friendly cereals is corn, which is still very tasty and healthy. You can cook it in different ways: cook porridge, make delicious polenta, casseroles, soups.
Culinary expert Yevhen Klopotenko shared on his website the secrets of cooking corn grits, thanks to which you will not spoil them.
How to cook porridge so that it doesn't burn
"To prevent the porridge from burning, whether it's in milk or water, you need to stir it all the time. After boiling, this process takes about 20 minutes. And you shouldn't look away for a minute. When the porridge is cooked, cover it with a lid and leave it to cool," the chef says.
Polenta recipe
Ingredients:
- corn grits - 300 g
- sun-dried tomatoes - 8 pcs.
- garlic - 1 clove.
- butter - 30 g
- hard cheese - 150-180 g
- basil - 3 sprigs
- water - 600 ml
- salt, pepper - to taste
Method of preparation:
1. In a saucepan, combine corn grits and water, add garlic, cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mass becomes homogeneous.
2. Take out the garlic.
3. Cut the tomatoes into thin strips.
4. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
5. Add the cheese and tomatoes to the polenta in the saucepan and stir gently to distribute them evenly.
6. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and put it in the oven for 30 minutes at 180°C.
