Lard is a very tasty, healthy, and budget-friendly product that can be salted, baked, and pickled. It also goes well with potatoes, vegetables, and herbs.

How to bake lard deliciously

Chef Anatolii Dobrovolskyi shared a recipe for baked lard with spices, which will turn out to be soft and crispy, on Instagram.



  • underbelly or bacon - 1.5 kg
  • hot mustard - 2 tbsp.
  • grated white horseradish - 2 tbsp.
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • garlic - 1 clove.
  • paprika - 1 tbsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Make cuts in the lard. Salt and pepper.

2. Grate horseradish and garlic. Add mustard, paprika and salt and mix.

3. Rub the lard in spices, wrap in cling film, then in foil, transfer to a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes at 200 C and another 30 at 180 C.

Slice the lard and serve!
