Famous Ukrainian actress and her son almost became victims of a terrorist attack in Chernihiv: what saved them

Denysenko and son almost suffered due to Russian attack

Natalia Denysenko, a well-known Ukrainian actress, star of the TV series Serf and many other projects, and her son almost became victims of a Russian terrorist attack in the centre of Chernihiv. The mother and child were going for a walk near the drama theatre, but they were saved by chance.

They caught the moment of the Russian missile's impact nearby while they were still at home. The actress immediately went down to the shelter, but she already knew that innocent people were being rescued upstairs. She wrote about this in her blog (scroll to the bottom of the page to see the photo).

It is worth noting that Chernihiv is the artist's hometown. She and her 5-year-old son, Andriy, came to visit when they were caught up in another terrorist attack by the terrorist country.

"We had just experienced such an explosion in Chernihiv. The children were very scared. It was ballistics. It hit near the city centre, the drama theatre. Probably there are dead," wrote the celebrity, who was sitting in a shelter that looked like a basement.

When the danger had passed, Natalia Denysenko said that she should have been at the site of the hit, as she was going for a walk in the centre of the city with her son, but her leisurely preparations saved their lives.

"We were going to go for a walk, but it took me a long time to get ready and we caught the explosion at home. There were a lot of dead and wounded. The debris flew all over the centre," the actress said.

On the afternoon of 19 August, the Russian Federation struck the centre of Chernihiv, using an Iskander-M ballistic missile. Seven people were killed, including a 6-year-old child, and 117 people were injured, including at least 12 minors.

The plane hit the drama theatre on Red Square, the city's main square. The theatre was hosting an exhibition of drone manufacturers called 'Angry Birds'. In connection with the tragedy, 19-21 August were declared days of mourning in Chernihiv.

As OBOZREVATEL wrote, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy released a video from the arrival site and said that there were injured and dead as a result of the attack. The moment of the hit was also captured on video by local residents.
