Jerry Heil and alyona alyona, the Ukrainian representatives at Eurovision 2024 who made it to the grand final of the song contest based on the results of the audience's vote, almost disrupted their performance because of the smoke that prevented them from breathing properly. The contestants were accompanied by Olly Alexander, a representative of Great Britain, who was just finishing his performance in a veil.

Even though there was only a minute between the performances of both countries and it took a little more time to rap, alyona alyona still complained that she could barely perform because of the smoke bombs, so she could not lose her footing and keep her breathing steady. A video of her confession appeared on Channel 5's TikTok .

"It was unexpected that smoke bombs were burning in the hall. It was very difficult to breathe, but we will win," said the rapper, and Jerry Heil added: "Alyona read out in unrealistic conditions."

In the footage of the Ukrainians' performance, you can see how the appearance of Alyona Alyona on stage is accompanied by a puff of smoke. This was probably done to add extravagance to the performance, to create a hazy effect in the background, and to focus attention on the figure.

How alyona alyona and Jerry Heil performed

The audience in the hall and near the screens were impressed not only by the song and strong vocals of the Ukrainians but also by the powerful staging. Just before the results of the first semi-final were announced, it became known that Jerry Heil had suffered a minor injury during her performance – she bruised her knee. There was no wound on the singer's body, but she complained that she might have a bruise.

She was probably injured when she fell to her knees after the first chorus. The girl also showed minor bruises she had received on stage, but the participants completed their performance to perfection. Her leg was bandaged, and in several shots, Jerry Heil can be seen rubbing the injured part of her knee.

The day before the first semi-final, alyona alyona also got injured (she broke a nail and scratched her knee), but during a rehearsal. The rapper fell on stage, but did not get confused, managed to get up and start her part without delay, and after the performance said that every Ukrainian woman would do the same. Euro fans even saw the incident as symbolic, as this is exactly what the number of Ukrainian contestants represents – the fight against difficulties.
