Twenty-nine years after the death of Ukrainian writer, literary critic, politician, and public figure Oles Honchar, who despite his high social status did not become "convenient" for the Soviet government, his grave was shown online. The artist's memory was immortalized by a monument erected at the Baikove Cemetery.
A video from the writer's grave appeared on the TikTok page of one of the social network's users. The monument to the cultural figure is engraved with each year of his life, from 1918 to 1995, and a famous phrase: "Take care of the cathedrals of your souls."

The "modest" tomb of Oles Honchar combines a dark granite pedestal with a contrasting white bas-relief. The monument, which features a three-dimensional image of the writer's face as he announced the results of the 1991 referendum in which the Ukrainian people confirmed their desire to live in an independent state, immortalizes his historical figure.

In his works, the writer was never afraid to criticize the Soviet government; moreover, he did not agree to write magnificent works about its representatives and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, for which he repeatedly received letters of threats. At the time, the public figure spoke out despite pressure from the USSR: "You won't let me write the truth anyway, and I don't want to write a lie!"

It was because of his strong pro-Ukrainian stance that Oles Honchar lived under constant control of special services. The writer's literary works were subject to strict censorship, and some of his works were banned for distribution.
