How to wash kitchen towels: grease and odor disappear instantly

Life-saving tips to help extend the life of your towels

A kitchen towel is a household textile item that is in constant contact with significant dirt. That's why food stains and often an unpleasant odor quickly appear on it, and it's not so easy to get rid of them.

OBOZREVATEL gathered a few ways how to return the kitchen towels to freshness. With proper care, they will last much longer. And here are some tools to help them do it

Dish soap

Since dishwashing liquid or gel is designed to combat the effects of food contamination, it can also clean a towel. It will need to be soaked in the cleaner before washing.

To do this, apply a few drops of the liquid or gel to the stain and leave it on for 2-3 hours. After such intensive treatment, the towel is placed in hot water. The stain should be rubbed with your hands or with a soft brush or sponge. It should wash off easily. Next, the towel should be rinsed thoroughly and, if necessary, washed in the machine. To finally get rid of the unpleasant smell, the thing should be dried in a well-ventilated place.

Salt or baking soda

Light colored towels made of natural fabrics can be boiled with auxiliaries such as table salt or baking soda. They will not only help to return the textile to cleanliness, but also to disinfect it.

To use this method, you must boil water in a large saucepan and add 2-3 tablespoons of salt or baking soda to the boiling water. When the remedy is completely dissolved, a towel is immersed in the boiling solution and left on low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. After boiling, the thing should be rinsed under cold water and, if necessary, washed in the usual way. Ideally, dry it in the open air afterwards.

Vinegar or citric acid

Washing in acidified water will help bring back the cleanliness and freshness of colored and terry towels. Vinegar or citric acid should be added directly to the washing machine.

During normal washing of kitchen towels, along with laundry detergent, half a cup of vinegar is poured into the conditioner compartment. Alternatively, you can pour 2 small sachets of citric acid into the powder itself and mix the products together. It is important to wash this way in cool water - not higher than 40 degrees.
