Mother meets Prince William during a charity hike

Prince William of Wales gave a woman a good scare during her charity hike. The touching moment happened to Emma Webb, who decided to walk the route from Newport to London in honor of the memory of her 16-year-old deceased daughter Brodie. The mother was shocked when she was approached by Prince William. During the meeting, the royal shouted "Boo!", surprising her.

Emma Webb, who lost her daughter Brodie in March 2020, started the charity hike because she wants to raise awareness of mental health among young people, the Daily Mail reports. The event took place near the town of Slough, which is located near London.

Pulling a life-size statue of Miles the horse, the woman did not notice the presence of the prince behind her. He slowly walked up to her and shouted "Boo!" before hugging her.

The woman was walking with two other mothers who had lost their children to suicide. She was very surprised that Prince William, a well-known mental health advocate, came to support her. He stayed with the women for about 20 minutes and even helped them pull a horse. They discussed mental health and suicide prevention.

"I knew he'd seen what I was doing on the news, but I didn't know he was going to turn up on the streets of Slough and walk with me, so it was incredible!" Emma said.

She also added, "I turned around and was just amazed to see him standing there. I, a little Welsh woman from Newport with a plastic horse, and the Prince of Wales was just standing in front of me. To receive a hug from the future King was unimaginable."

During the hike, Emma also faced some unpleasant situations, such as walking through mud, ice and narrow trails, which resulted in pieces of Miles breaking.

As of December 7, Emma had raised £30,000 during the hike. Before her suicide, Brodie was supposed to be a star in the world of horse racing, but one day she took her own life in one of the local forests.

According to the Do It For Brodie website, aside from difficulties with friends at school, the girl did not show any signs of being suicidal. It was not easy for Emma to survive the loss but she has promised herself to keep the memory of the child alive by talking about the difficulties faced by young people with mental health issues.
