The American woman became pregnant with two children, but there is one important detail: she is carrying them in separate uteruses

A 32-year-old mother of three from Alabama named Kelsey Hatcher was surprised to learn that she was pregnant with two children. However, the woman is not expecting twins, but identical twins - the babies are in two separate uteruses.

The fact is that Hatcher was born with two uteruses, ABC News writes. Although this feature is rare on its own, the chances of getting pregnant at the same time in each uterus are approximately 1 in 50 million.

Later, however, the health worker saw another baby, but in a different uterus. Kelsey's reaction was unexpected: she recalls laughing for about half an hour.

"Most likely, the fertilization took place separately," explained gynecologist Shweta Patel. Although women with a double uterus often face pregnancy complications, all three of Hatcher's previous children were born healthy.

Kelsey plans to give birth naturally to both babies. As you know, the couple is expecting girls, and the due date is scheduled for Christmas, i.e. December 25.

Uteruses contract at different times, which can last minutes, hours, or even days. Kelsey and her husband, Caleb Hatcher, are aware that a cesarean section may be necessary for one or both babies, depending on how things develop.
