Biography of Viktor Lyashko
Viktor Lyashko was born in the village of Osova, in Rivne region, on April 24, 1980. Lyashko received his higher education at the Bogomolets National University of Medicine in Kiev, which he graduated from in 2003.
After the institute, Viktor Lyashko worked in the sanitary and epidemiological service in Kyiv region until 2010. Later he moved to the Ministry of Health as a chief specialist and worked his way up the career ladder to the position of Director of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiologic Service of Ukraine.
From 2013 to early 2014, he was the head of the Kyiv Regional Laboratory Center of the SES.
After the end of the Revolution of Dignity, Viktor Lyashko moved to the public sector. Thus, in 2014 he headed the NGO "Infection Control in Ukraine", and from 2015 to 2018 he acted as a consultant on public health issues in the "HIV Services Reform in Action " - a USAID project.
In addition, from 2014 to 2016, Viktor Lyashko was one of the experts of the Reanimation Package of Reforms.
In 2018, Viktor Lyashko was a member of the public organization "Health Platform". And in the same 2018, Viktor Lyashko returned to public service, taking the post of Director General of the Center for Public Health.
On December 24, 2019 Lyashko was appointed Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Zoryana Skaletska. In this position, he participated in the evacuation of Ukrainians from the sars-cov-2 covid-2019 epidemic-ridden city of Wuhan in China, regularly voiced the latest information about this evacuation to the media.
On February 26, 2020, Viktor Lyashko was appointed chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine.
Appointment as head of the Ministry of Health
After the dismissal of Minister Maxim Stepanov, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a resolution on the appointment of Lyashko as Minister.
On May 20, the Parliament supported Lyashko's appointment. "In favor" voted 262 people's deputies.
Covid-19 coronavirus
With the arrival of the coronavirus in Ukraine Lyashko became the main speaker on the disease in the country. He reports daily on the situation with the disease in Ukraine, and informs Ukrainians about the actions of the authorities, which are aimed at fighting the disease.

For 2018, Viktor Lyashko declared about one hundred thousand UAH of salary, as well as 1.01 million UAH of "fees and other payments" from the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health and 45 thousand UAH of "fees" from two LLCs. He also indicated the amount of UAH 68 thousand as income from entrepreneurial activity as an FLP.
According to Viktor Lyashko's declaration, he owns a land plot of 1200 square meters in the village of Litvinovka, Kyiv region. His wife, in turn, owns a 1200 square meter plot in the village of Pukhovka, Brovarsky district, as well as a 110.9 square meter apartment in Kyiv.
