Ruslan Alekseevich Stefanchuk - Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Short biography

Ruslan Stefanchuk was born on October 29, 1975 in the city of Ternopil.

He received his higher education at the Khmelnitsky Institute of Law and Administration and the Podillia University of Technology, both of which he graduated from in 1997.

After his postgraduate studies at the Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk continued to work at this Institute and reached the post of Vice-Rector, which he held from 2005 to 2011.

From 2011 to 2013 Ruslan Stefanchuk worked at the Parliamentary Institute of Legislation. From there, Stefanchuk went to the National Academy of the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office, where he first headed one of the Academy's departments and later held the position of Vice-Rector.

In 2016, Ruslan Stefanchuk took the post of Vice-Rector at the Higher Lawyers' School of Ukraine, established under the National Association of Ukrainian Advocates.

Ruslan Stefanchuk is the chief editor of the magazine "Law of Ukraine". In addition, Stefanchuk also writes author's materials and is a member of the editorial boards of many similar Ukrainian publications, such as "Legal Science", "Law of Ukraine" and many others.

In 2019, Ruslan Stefanchuk was officially declared by Vladimir Zelensky as one of the members of the so-called "Ze-team", i.e. the headquarters of the presidential candidate.

After he won the presidential election, Volodymyr Zelenski signed a decree appointing Ruslan Stefanchuk as his advisor and presidential representative in the Ukrainian parliament.

Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation

Ruslan Stefanchuk was elected as people's deputy of Ukraine from the party "Servant of the People". At the first session of the new convocation of the parliament, MPs elected him as the first deputy speaker of the VRU.

Election as a speaker

On October 7, 2021 MPs, after the dismissal of Speaker Dmytro Razumkov, supported the proposal to appoint Ruslan Stefanchuk as the new head of the Verkhovna Rada. Stefanchuk's candidacy was supported by 261 MPs.

Personal life

Advisor to the President of Ukraine is married. Ruslan Stefanchuk's wife is Marina.
