Brief biography of Mykola Kuleba

Kuleba was born in Kyiv on March 23, 1972.

Nikolai Kuleba received his higher education at the Kiev Institute of National Economy.

Even before the beginning of his studies, in 1989, he worked as a mechanic in the Artem Production Association.

From 1993 to 2002 he held various positions in commercial structures in Kiev.

In 2001, he created a charitable organization "Open Heart". Subsequently, in 2002, he became its head. As part of his work in the charity organization, he created a model for rehabilitation of street children and special centers for working with children.

In 2006, he became the head of the international charity organization "Child Rescue Service".

From 2006 to December 2014, he held the position of Head of the Children's Affairs Service of the Kyiv City State Administration.

Thanks to his work, a policy of children's rights protection was formed in the capital. A number of city children's programs were also introduced and family forms of upbringing of orphans and other measures were developed, which allowed to reduce the number of orphans in boarding schools by 5 times.

In 2014, he was appointed by then-President Petro Poroshenko to the position of the Ukrainian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights. He was dismissed from the post on the eve of the inauguration of newly elected President Volodymyr Zelensky.

On July 1, 2019, Zelensky was reappointed to the post of Commissioner for Children's Rights by decree.

Traffic accident with Nikolai Kuleba

On Sunday, November 24, Kuleba together with two sons got into a serious traffic accident. The accident with Kuleba happened on the Odessa highway near the village of Chabany.

As a result of the collision, which occurred because Kuleba, as evidenced by the video, crossed the intersection at a red traffic light, the official together with his sons - Timothy and Elisey - got in serious condition in the hospital.
