Larisa Dolina
Larisa Dolina was born on September 10, 1955 in Baku, in the city where she spent only 3 years of her life, but the city she loves until now. In 1958 as a three-year-old child she moved with her parents to Odessa. At the age of six Larissa began to learn to play the piano.
Musical career of the singer began in 1971 in the pop orchestra "We are Odessites".
Later she was a soloist of such musical groups as the State Variety Orchestra of Armenia under the direction of Konstantin Orbelian, the State Variety Ensemble of Azerbaijan under the direction of Polad Byul-Bul Oglu, the Sovremennik Orchestra under the direction of Anatoly Kroll.
In 1981 Anatoly Kroll prepared the program "Anthology of Jazz Vocal", with which Larisa Dolina and Weiland Rodd accompanied by the orchestra performed with full houses in many Soviet republics. In 1984 the singer was invited to perform one of the main roles in Alfred Schnittke's cantata The Story of Dr. Faust.
Since 1985 Dolina has been working independently. During her solo career several concert programs were staged, with which the singer traveled all over the country. In 1985 she made her first appearance as a director of her own program "Protracted Jump". Two years later Larisa Dolina presented a new show "Contrasts", in 1989 in the State Concert Hall "Russia" showed the program "Ice", and the next year - the show "Little Woman". In 1990 the rock opera "Giordano" premiered there, in which the main male role was played by Valery Leontiev and the main female role was played by Larisa Dolina.
In 1991 within the framework of the Russian-French contract Larisa Dolina performed in front of 20-thousand audience in La Rochelle at the festival "Radio Prestige". In 1992 the singer's jubilee concert took place at the Estrada Theater. In the same year there was a program "What I want, I sing", shown in the concert hall "Russia". In 1995 Dolina presented the program "I don't like myself", which revealed to the audience her new image.
The singer became a prize-winner and laureate of many prestigious all-union and international contests. In 1991 Larisa Dolina was awarded the title "The Best Singer of the Country" at the All-Union contest "Pro". Two years later she became Honored Artist of Russia. In 1994 the singer received the Crystal Dolphin prize at the All-Russian contest in Yalta and won the national music award "Ovation" in the nomination "Best Rock Singer". In 1996 she again received the "Ovation" as the best soloist of the year (in the category "Pop Music").
Larisa Dolina starred only in the musical movie "We Are From Jazz", but her voice can be heard in more than 70 movies and cartoons.
