Luis Castro

Luis Castro is the head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk soccer club .

Brief biography

Luis Castro was born in Portugal, in the town of Mondroins, on September 3, 1961.

He started his career as an adult footballer at the Portuguese clubUnian Leiria from the city of Leiria in 1980. In addition to him, in total played for five other clubs:

• "Vierense".

• "Vitoria" (Guimarães).

• "Elvas".

• "Fafé".

• "Agueda".

Luis Castro began his coaching career in 1998, in the soccer club "Agueda".

Later he worked one season as the head coach of FCPenafiel, and after that he received an invitation from the famousPorto team.

In the coaching staff of "Porto" Luis Castro for a long time worked with the youth teams of the club, and in 2013 he took over the reserve team of the main squad.

After Paulo Fonseca leftPorto, Luis Castro took the position of the head coach of the club and successfully led the team to the end of the season.

Since 2016, Luis Castro has worked exclusively with teams of the Portuguese top division -Rio Ave, thenChaves, and finallyVitoria(Guimarães). With none of the above mentioned soccer clubs Luis Castro has not worked longer than one season.

In 2019, Luis Castro signed a two-year contract with FCShakhtar Donetsk. Thus, Castro became the thirty-third anniversary thirty-third head coach of FCShakhtar.
